Di-Uai
Peruvian Japanese fashion designer and artist, better known in the international market as “Di Uai.”
Diego Yamashiro was born in Ica - Perú and has studies in Business Administration at the University of Lima, and received artistic training in Fashion Design at IED (European Institute of Design) in Madrid, Spain and image consulting at FIT (Fashion Institute Technology) in New York.
In 2009, he won a scholarship in Fashion Design at the IED in Spain, becoming part of the work team of the president of the Chamber of Designers of Spain, Modesto Lomba for his Haute Couture brand, Devota y Lomba, he continues to work with his brand to this day, taking on roles as an image manager, photographer, international broker and designer.
In 2011, during an internship in the city of Lima, he held the photographic exhibition “Eyes by Diego Yamashiro” showcasing the inspiring european aspect of a fashion designer through Photography.
He has the opportunity to work internationally in Los Angeles with the Californian brand "M the MoveMent" directed by the famous American designer Michael Luis Simplicio de Asis Herrera, Known as "M". During his role as a Fashion Designer
He was part of New York work team of the Fashion Director of Forbes Magazine, Mr. Joseph DeAcetis. together, they developed the international brand “Potro”, which has opened international doors for Diego Yamashiro.
Currently, Diego Yamashiro works as a producer and designer of textile products for the American, Asia and European markets. In addition to placing his own designs with Peruvian production in international shows such as Madrid Fashion Week, New York Fashion Week, Los Angeles Fashion Week and others. He has participated in fashion photo shoots in cities like Los Angeles, New York, Bangkok, Tokyo, and Madrid.
He was recently appointed Ambassador-Representate of the IED design school (European Institute of Design) where he gives advisory talks to students from the Milan-Italy headquarters, as well as giving illustrative lectures fashion/photography from the Madrid headquarters to the world.
Also highlight that with his personal clothing brand “Di Uai” he is appointed by the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Tourism through his PROMPERU identity as “BRAND PERU”, with which he can use the official Promotion symbol of the Peruvian Government, show his designs to the world and show himself as the image of Peru, thus spreading the quality of Peruvian cotton before different textile markets.
Over time, Diego Yamashiro has had the opportunity to dress famous singers and actors from the United States and other parts of the world with his designs made with Peruvian cotton and produced in Peru.
His work has been featured in prestigious venues such as Madison Square Garden in New York City. Notable figures who have worn his designs include American singer Bobby Brown (husband of Whitney Houston), rapper Lazy Bone from BONE THUGS N HARMONY (duo of the legendary rapper TUPAC), actor London Brown (from the HBO TV series “Ballers” with lead actor The Rock Dwayne Johnson), singer Jeff Timmons (of 98 Degrees), actor Alberto Rosende (from “Shadow Hunters – American TV Series), rapper Curtis Young (son of Dr. Dre), American actor Ian Ziering (from the television series Beverly Hills), Thai rapper Khan Thaitay (from Bangkok's Thaitanium Music Group), American singer Ralph Tresvant (member of New Edition), rapper Shigga Shay (the main artistic image of Singapore), American singer Vanessa Curry (member of The Pussycat Dolls), American singer El Debarge (member of Debarge Music Group), Famous Spanish singer Miguel Bose and other famous artists from around the world.
In the sports field, he has shared his garments with his own designs and Made in Peru clothing to famous international athletes. from different sectors, such as the tennis player Novak Djokovic, the famous Brazilian of Real Madrid soccer player Roberto Carlos, the footballer Captain of the Peruvian football team and Ambassador of Bayern Munich - Claudio Pizarro, the legendary successful Peruvian footballer at Brujas FC of Belgium - Andres “El Condor” Mendoza, the famous Peruvian central back belonging to teams such as Boca Junior of Argentina or the FC SChalke 04 from Germany - Carlos Zambrano, as well as the coach of the Spanish Professional team El Rayo Vallecano - Francisco Rodriguez, the Spanish defender of RC Celta de Vigo of Spain - Unai Nuñez, the left back of Alianza Lima of Perú - Richi Lagos, the Argentine scorer of University of Perú - Mauro “El Toro” Cantoro, among other famous athletes.
